De todos os eventos e protagonistas que marcaram e influenciaram a nossa vida colectiva, em Luanda, nas restantes capitais da CPLP e no resto do mundo, a nossa escolha recaiu para duas mulheres: a jornalista iraniana e Prémio Nobel da Paz 2023, Narges Mohammadi, e a portuguesa Lucília Gago, procuradora-geral da República.
Sim, não foi uma escolha fácil. Houve quem na redacção do O Telegrama se tenha recusado a opinar sobre a escolha de Gago, a mais poderosa procuradora-geral de Portugal de que se tem memória nos últimos 20 anos.
Depois, com vista a alargamos as várias sensibilidades, convidamos várias entidades públicas, desde governantes, diplomatas, gestores de topo da banca e líderes de opinião.
Abrimos este Especial com o artigo de opinião da ministra das Finanças de Angola, o CEO do banco Keve, o ex-Presidente de São Tomé e Príncipe, o antigo líder da oposição em Angola, o CEO do Banco Yetu, o CEO de uma petrolífera e diamantífera, uma líder feminina e uma gestora de risco, um actor, um professor da universidade de Oxford, um filho do finado líder guerrilheiro da UNITA, dois economistas seniores, um diplomata, uma gestora de topo, um engenheiro agrónomo, e fechamos com um líder juvenil santomense, considerado um dos 100 jovens mais influentes no continente africano.
Cada um escolheu a sua Figura do Ano, num exercício livre em que a nenhum dos convidados foi submetida uma lista de candidatos à escolha. Discordemos ou não, com a dimensão dos factos protagonizados local e globalmente, mas cada um dos eventos e personalidades aqui indicadas impactaram (positiva ou negativamente) a nossa vida colectiva lusófona e mundial.

THE PROTAGONISTS OF THE YEAR
This is a complex cover that over four weeks led us to countless debates, disagreements, until we reached consensus, even with fists on the table.
Of all the events and protagonists that have marked and influenced our collective life in Luanda, in the other capitals of the CPLP, and in the rest of the world, our choice fell on two women: the Iranian journalist and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2023, Narges Mohammadi, and the Portuguese Lucília Gago, Attorney General.
Yes, it was not an easy choice. Some in the O Telegrama newsroom refused to comment on the choice of Gago, the most powerful Attorney General in Portugal in the last 20 years.
Then, in order to broaden the various sensitivities, we invited several public entities, from government officials, diplomats, top bank managers, and opinion leaders.
We open this Special with the opinion article of the Minister of Finance of Angola, the CEO of Keve Bank, the former President of São Tomé and Príncipe, the former opposition leader in Angola, the CEO of Banco Yetu, the CEO of an oil and diamond company, a female leader and a risk manager, an actor, a professor at the University of Oxford, a son of the late guerrilla leader of UNITA, two senior economists, a diplomat, a top manager, an agronomist, and we close with a youth leader from São Tomé and Príncipe, considered one of the 100 most influential young people on the African continent.
Each one chose their Figure of the Year, in a free exercise in which none of the guests were given a list of candidates to choose from. Whether we agree or not with the dimension of the facts that have taken place locally and globally, each of the events and personalities mentioned here has impacted (positively or negatively) our Lusophone and global collective life.
